     Cultivators of the earth are the most vigorous, the most independent, the most virtuous pillars of society - Thomas Jefferson

     Join us in a celebration of our agrarian roots! Modern homesteading families will share their knowledge of beekeeping, soapmaking, cheesemaking, food preservation, sheep & goat husbandry, maple syrup production, gardening, weaving and much more. An exploration of homesteading techniques from the distant past through present day "back to the land" ideals will round out the days events.

Saturday May 25: Wool Day

     From fleece to shawl you can try it all - shearing, spinning, dyeing and weaving. Local artisans will share their knowledge and love of the fiber arts. Meet our fiber sources - sheep, alpacas and angora goats. And enjoy all the village has to offer as our docents walk you back in time with many historic skills from soapmaking to fireside cooking.

     Harken back to the days of pioneers and trappers. See primitive encampments, shooting competition, enjoy fun and games from "back in the day." Historic demonstrations of early skills and survival.

     Follow the yellow brick road to a day of fun. Memorabilia and activities based upon the classic movie.

Thursday, July 4: Montrose Fourth of July Parade
Join us and see our float in the Independence Day Parade in Montrose, July 4.

     The gunslingers are back! The Shadows of the Old West troupe will put on performances both days, bringing entertainment and the history of the cowboys to the Village.

     Displays and demonstrations of the culture, art and skills of the first Europeans to visit North America - the Vikings.

     Harvest time activities for the whole family. Plus, the Village is again inhabited by our "Pumpkintown" friends, a traditional delight of the season.

     The War Between the States shaped our history and changed life for many in our area. Sit in on a "lesson" at the one-room schoolhouse. March in step with soldiers, and be charmed by the elegantly dressed ladies. Battle re-enactments each day.

Fridays & Saturdays , October 11 - 12 & 18 - 19: Historic Ghost Walks of PA

Special admission rates: $5.00 ages 6 and up, under age 6 free.
     Take a spine-tingling nightime candlelight tour of the Village, while being thrilled by tales of ghosts and hauntings from our area and around the state of PA. Your shivers will not be from the chilly weather! Cider, hot chocolate and donuts provided at the end of the tours. Tours start about every 20 minutes throughout the night. Reservations recommended for parties of 10 or more.

Saturday, October 26: Paranormal Encounters in School House and Lodge
Special Hours 8 pm - 12 am
$50.00 for both Schoolhouse and Lodge encounters.
$25.00 for single encounter in Schoolhouse or Lodge.

     Bring your paranormal investigation equipment and spend two hours in the Grove School and 2 hours in the Lodge.

Saturday, December 14: Victorian Christmas and Tea

     Enjoy an elegant interlude during the pre-Christmas rush. Relax with friends while tasting delectable treats and a variety of teas (or hot chocolate). Afternoon tea served all day. Donations gratefully accepted. Silent auction of gift baskets that will make wonderful holiday gifts - if you can part with them! Funds raised help maintain the church.
